We are a great community to live in! Learn more about us here.
Leta operates on different legislation than any other provider in the City. We fall under the Housing Services Act, the Co-operative Corporations Act, and ONLY section V.1 of the Residential Tenancies Act. Links to these laws can be found on the Links page.
To apply to live at Leta, your first step is to get on the Housing Access Peterborough waiting list by going to 526 McDonnel St. or calling (705) 742-4499. Once on that list you may be called for an interview and orientation when units become available.
We have one and two bedroom apartments and two, three, and four bedroom townhouses. With the exception of the first floor of the apartment building, all of our units have stairs. Please keep this in mind when filling out your H.A.P. list application.
An important thing to note: all households are expected to contribute four hours per month of volunteer time to the community. This can take the form of sitting on a committee, helping maintain the grounds, or anything else that helps out your community.
We have many committees to chose from. Member Selection, Member Involvement, Pets, Social, Kids, Welcome, Maintenance and Landscaping. Members can also create new committees to fill any needs they feel the community has.
Leta has a seven member Board of Directors to handle day to day operations of the Co-op. Any member who abides by all the rules of the co-op can run in the elections held each January. Members may attend open Board meetings and can ask to be put on the agenda for the confidential meeting.
